4.54pm: Bohemians strike first. Ex-Drogs man James Clarke fires past Drogs goalkeeper Luke Dennison on 15 minutesfollowing a mazy run, giving the Gypsies the early initiative in the chase for fourth spot.
Meanwhile, Waterford have fallen behind to Galway United. John Caulfield’s side have hit the front through Steven Wals on 16 minutes.
As it stands, the Blues will have to beat Bray Wanderers to Treaty United in the playoff to preserve their Premier Division status for 2026.
4.45pm: Good evening folks! The final day in the League of Ireland sees all five fixtures kick-off simultaneously at 4.30pm, with something on the line in each.
Only the top and bottom places of the 10-team league are decided and, for those two Shamrock Rovers and Cork City, there’s places for players to play for in Sunday week’s FAI Cup final at Lansdowne Road.
There’s fourth place – potentially a route to European football if City don’t upset Rovers – up for grabs for three teams and the relegation playoff up to avoid for two of three teams.
Derry City and Shelbourne last week guaranteed the two European spots behind champions Rovers but can swap places if the Candystripes slip up at Turner’s Cross and Shels beat St Patrick’s Athletic.
The league runner-up will, if Rovers complete their first double for 38 years, grab the lucrative spot in the Europa League. Third qualifies for the Conference League.
St Patrick’s Athletic know that victory at Tolka Park will consolidate fourth place but if they don’t, a winner from the match in Co Louth between Drogheda United and Bohemians will steal that berth.
Down the bottom, the crunch clash is at the RSC where Waterford, currently occupying the second bottom spot, host Galway United. That pair, along with Sligo Rovers, are deadlocked on 38 points but the Blues have the worst goal difference record of the trio.
All games remain scoreless after 15 minutes.
