The India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has partnered with the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) to make life easier for pensioners.
Under a new agreement, pensioners will now be able to submit their Digital Life Certificates (DLCs) from the comfort of their homes — without visiting a bank or EPFO office.
DOORSTEP SERVICE AT NO COST TO PENSIONERS
Through this initiative, IPPB will deliver the Digital Life Certificate service at the doorstep of pensioners across the country. The service will be completely free, as EPFO will bear the entire cost of issuing the certificates.
The India Post network, which includes over 1.65 lakh post offices and more than three lakh postal service providers such as Postmen and Gramin Dak Sevaks, will play a key role.
Equipped with Doorstep Banking devices, postal staff will help pensioners complete the process using fingerprint or face authentication.
HELPING SENIOR CITIZENS IN RURAL AND REMOTE AREAS
The service is expected to benefit senior citizens, especially those living in rural or semi-urban regions where access to banks and EPFO offices is limited.
They will no longer need to travel long distances or wait in queues to verify their life certificates.
SUPPORTING DIGITAL INDIA AND EASE OF LIVING VISION
R. Viswesvaran, MD and CEO of IPPB, said the collaboration strengthens the bank’s mission to deliver financial and citizen services to every doorstep.
He noted that the partnership with EPFO supports the government’s ‘Digital India’ and ‘Ease of Living’ vision by making pension and financial services easily accessible to all citizens through IPPB’s trusted postal etwork.
JEEVAN PRAMAAN: MAKING LIFE CERTIFICATE SUBMISSION EASIER
The Doorstep Digital Life Certificate service is based on Jeevan Pramaan, a digital certificate that confirms a pensioner’s life status using Aadhaar-based biometric verification.
IPPB first launched this service in 2020, allowing pensioners to either visit a post office or contact their local postman or Gramin Dak Sevak.
Once verified, the pensioner receives a confirmation SMS, and the certificate becomes available online the next day. The service has already saved time and effort for lakhs of pensioners with limited mobility. The latest partnership with EPFO will now expand its reach to millions under the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995.
