Cork punters – and especially those in East Cork – are being urged to triple-check their Lotto numbers as the shop where the winning €1m ticket was sold has been confirmed.
The National Lottery team has revealed that the ticket that won the top prize in Saturday night’s Lotto Plus 1 draw was bought at Tesco in the Market Green Shopping Centre in Midleton. The lucky winner bought their winning Quick Pick ticket on Friday 31st October – and have yet to come forward. If this is your go-to spot to get your numbers – or if you picked up your ticket when passing through recently – you well could be a millionaire and not even realise it.
The results of Saturday’s (1st November) Lotto Plus 1 draw were: 05, 15, 16, 18, 25, 31 and the bonus was 22.
A player in Dublin also won €1m in the same draw on Saturday. They have since made contact and are making arrangements to collect their prize.
If you find out you’ve won big, don’t panic! The first thing you should do is sign the back of your Lotto ticket. Then, contact the National Lottery prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie to arrange the collection of your prize. It’s also advised that you hide your ticket somewhere safe, but also where you don’t forget where it is.
In the past, people have even buried theirs in the garden for extra safekeeping – which might be going a little overboard, but at least you’d know it’s safe as houses.
All shops that sell winning lotto tickets get a payment from the National Lottery. The Midleton Tesco will be getting a handy €3k from this sale – a lovely sum, but nowhere near the €25k earned by the Cork city Centra that sold the €250m Lotto ticket earlier this year.
This big Cork town has seen a number of big Lotto wins in recent memory, six of which were all purchased at McCarthy’s News on the Main Street. One of these was a memorable €500k victory split between a whopping 64-person syndicate of teachers from the local St Colman’s Community College.
