Waterford City and County Council has approved a major housing project at Cul Dara, Williamstown Road, proposed by Liam Neville Developments Unlimited Company.

The plan, submitted on May 7, includes a two-storey creche and 95 new homes. A previous version of the proposal had been withdrawn.

The approved development features a 286 sqm, two-storey creche and 95 residential units: 18 three-bedroom semi-detached houses, 37 three-bedroom terraced and end-of-terrace houses, eight two-bedroom terraced houses, and four two-storey apartment blocks containing 24 apartments (16 two-bedroom and eight three-bedroom). In addition, one three-storey duplex block will provide eight apartments—four two-bedroom and four one-bedroom.

Access will be through the existing Cul Dara road. The scheme includes public open spaces, 110 car parking spaces, cycle parking, and all associated site works and infrastructure. Together with 74 homes already under construction, the overall development will deliver 169 dwellings in the area.

Additional information requested by the council was provided on October 1, and final approval was granted on October 24, subject to 28 conditions.

Among these, the developer must contribute €338,220 towards public infrastructure and facilities benefiting the area.
