LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. (WOLF) — The Pennsylvania State Police along with the Wyoming Area Regional Police Department apprehended an individual with a mental health warrant that caused area schools to go on lockdown

The individual, who had been traveling across multiple municipalities in Luzerne County, including Lehman Township, was taken into custody.

Earlier Wednesday, PSP released a missing person advisory about the suspect around 1:45 pm. Troopers announced the individual was in custody just after 2pm.

Several school districts within Luzerne County were placed on lockdown out of an abundance of caution since a “perceived threat” about firearms had been related to the individual police were searching for, according to Luzerne County District Attorney Sam Sangueldolce who spoke with our newsgathering partners at the Times Leader.

“At this time, we don’t believe the threat was directed particularly at any school district or school at all. The threat was reportedly made in the vicinity of a certain school,” Sanguedolce said.
