The majority of Irish people say they have not heard of or do not understand the law that obliges banks, hospitals and other institutions to ensure that their important decisions on finances, health and key areas are outlined and respected.

The findings emerged in RED C research launched by Safeguarding Ireland yesterday, which found only 15pc of adults had knowledge of what is required under the law.
