Aisling Mintern, from Midleton, and Jack Sweeney, from Douglas, first met when they were introduced through friends.

The couple got engaged in Salou in 2022 and on September 25, they were wed at the Sacred Heart Church in Mogeely.

“Both Fr Frank O’Neill and Fr Barry O’Flynn made myself and Jack feel very relaxed during the ceremony, and we couldn’t thank them enough for marrying us on our special day,” said Aisling.

They were joined on the day by friends and family, from near and far, including their parents; Maria and Tom, and Dee and Tods; siblings; Ian, Philip, Dean and Jodie; daughter Sadie, and Jack’s daughter Aria and son Kyle. Also in attendance were their nieces, nephews, cousins and Aisling’s gran-aunt Nora. “We want to thank a few special guests who travelled to be with us on our special day. Jack’s relatives from England, my cousin Meg and her husband David, who travelled from Switzerland, and my brother Ian who travelled home from Australia,” said Aisling.

The bride sourced her gown from Diamond Bridal. “The ladies there were amazing, especially Grace, Penny and Emer. Their inhouse seamstress, Marie, went above and beyond with my alterations,” Aisling said. Her shoes were from Wedding Belles in Castlemartyr. Aisling’s earrings were gifted to her by her godmother, Patricia and her bracelet was a present from her parents. Make-up was by Jeannette Cronin and hair was by the Aisling Kelleher. The groom’s suit was from Morleys.

Music at the ceremony was by singer Ruth O’ Brien. “She was amazing and all our guests were complimenting her beautiful voice,” the couple said. The wedding flowers were by Eileen in the Village Florist, Castlemartyr while the bridal car was supplied by Fitzgibbon Event Motors.

After the ceremony, the couple held a reception for their guests at the Vienna Woods Hotel.“It was amazing, the food was delicious and the wedding co-ordinator, Laura Daly, couldn’t have been more helpful on the day,” the couple said.

Their wedding cake was made by Ruairi’s Kitchen.

The Ian Hendrick Band provided music in the evening, with Aisling and Jack sharing their first dance to Kodaline’s The One.

Asked what was the most memorable thing about the day, the couple said: “The most special one was seeing the love and happiness on our family and friends’ faces for both myself and Jack throughout the whole day and night.”
