Young actor Daithí Ó Haragáin is set to debut in the Channel 4 drama “Trespasses” tonight.

The 11-year-old from Letterkenny is set to play a starring role as the character of Davy Mc Geown in the drama, which is set during the Troubles in the North.

Set in 1975 and described as a “forbidden love story”, the series will follow Catholic schoolteacher Cushla (played by Lola Pettigrew) and the story of her romance with Protestant barrister Michael (played by Tom Cullen).

Daithí’s role will see him play Davy, a vulnerable child from a mixed-religion family, who is also one of Cushla’s students.

According to Encore Performing Arts Academy, “Daithí plays the role of Davy Mc Geown, a young boy in Cushla’s class whose family becomes central to the escalating tensions of the troubles. Cushla’s relationship with Davy McGeown is one of a caring teacher and a vulnerable student from a mixed-religion family during The Troubles. Cushla takes Davy under her wing, providing him with support and trying to protect him from the bullying and persecution his family faces due to their mixed Catholic and Protestant background. This protective relationship becomes dangerously complicated when Davy’s father is attacked, and Cushla becomes involved with his family’s troubles, ultimately leading to severe consequences for her and her family.”

Ahead of his debut tonight, Daithí’s talent agency wished the young actor all the best via social media.

“We are so excited for one of our younger clients, Daithí, who stars in Channel 4’s highly anticipated drama ’Trespasses’,” they wrote.

“Daithí plays the role of Davey and we can’t wait to watch him shine.”

“Trespasses” is set to air tonight (Sunday the 9th of November) at 9pm on Channel 4.
