Aoife Wafer on track for Ireland return
Aoife Wafer is on track to play in Ireland’s World Cup quarter-final against France at Sandy Park on Sunday. Wafer hasn’t played since Ireland’s win over Wales in the Women’s Six Nations on Easter Sunday at Rodney Parade but the star backrower is on course to play for the first time in this World Cup after coming through training in Exeter today.
“Aoife is back training with the squad, she’s looking really good at the minute,” said Gareth Steenson, Ireland kicking coach, at the team’s base in Exeter. “It’s been a long road for her. She’s got some good training sessions under her belt which has been really good. All being well, she’s available for selection this week.
