Heimir Hallgrimsson has called on Ireland fans to support the players instead of turning on them in the inevitable backlash following Tuesday evening’s humiliation in Armenia.
The Ireland boss believes that members of his squad are struggling under the weight of the jersey, with the Icelander retaining the view that his team are not in a downward spiral and are good enough to qualify for a major tournament, even though he accepted it was “difficult to see the light” in the aftermath of Yerevan.
