All the great soap operas have featured big-name returns. EastEnders had Dirty Den coming back from the dead in 2003. Coronation Street had Vera Duckworth appear like a pre-death vision to Jack. And Neighbours’ Harold Bishop had more comebacks than Cher.
And so perhaps it was inevitable that Ryan Tubridy, hastily ushered off a couple of summers ago, would now, just in time for the Christmas build-up, be rumoured for a ratings-grabbing return to remember.
