The up-and-coming claimer has enjoyed a remarkable jumps season in his role as number one rider for owner Dai Walters and has formed a formidable partnership with trainer Sam Thomas. The pair are operating at a red-hot 54 per cent strike-rate when teaming up this campaign.
Johnston could hardly be in better form heading into Cheltenham’s November meeting, riding at a 43 per cent strike-rate in the past fortnight. He has the chance to cap his brilliant period on the Thomas-trained Vincenzo, a 5-1 chance for Saturday’s highlight.
