Big Brother viewers were divided on Wednesday night after Holly and Abiola kicked off a conversation about ‘pretty privilege’. Things got fairly heated when the influencer claimed it’s a “double-edged sword” to be beautiful.
Holly told the group that she didn’t believe in the concept of “pretty privilege at all”. This concept is based on the idea that more attractive people get through life more easily than those considered unattractive.
“Yes there are privileges that come with being beautiful, but pretty privilege – I always say this is a double-edged sword,” she said.

“There’s pros and there’s cons, like I get social anxiety, you wouldn’t think that, but sometimes when a beautiful girl walks into a room, sometimes we don’t want to even be noticed.”
Holly, who has previously been linked to Usain Bolt, believed that, at times, she gets too much attention in public, even if she’s “dressed down” and “hiding”.
But Melbourne resident Abiola hit back at the influencer’s claims.
“Yeah, but I’d rather that than people not give me the time of day because they think I’m gross,” the 24-year-old musician said.
Holly tried to make the group see her point of view, but Abiola shut her down.

“You guys live an easier life,” she added.
Conor interjected and defended the musician, saying that the housemates shouldn’t try to argue against Abiola “because she lives it”.
“People don’t think you’re disgusting, do you know what I’m saying?” Abiola asked Holly.
“I can’t relate to that, but people have called me stuck up,” Holly responded, adding she’s also felt over-sexualised by people in the past.
“I’d rather be called stuck-up, sexualised, than people think I’m gross and not give me the time of day,” Abiola said.
The conversation left the 24-year-old “a bit fired up”, and she left the table.
Big Brother viewers divided over Holly’s ‘pretty privilege’ debate
Viewers were seriously divided on the topic, especially the fact that Holly said there was a “double-edged sword” to being attractive.
“Thank goodness Holly keeps reminding everyone how beautiful she is and how difficult that is for her,” one viewer said sarcastically.
“I think Holly means well but she’s a bit clueless because everyone she hangs out with in real life is the same as her,” another wrote.
A third urged the influencer to use her time in the Big Brother house to broaden her perspective.

“Holly please gal shhh. Less talking more listening, you have an opportunity to get something out of the experience,” they wrote.
A fourth commented, “This broke my heart. We need to protect Abs, Mia, Coco and Allana, what absolute gems. I can even see that Vinnie is so much more than good looks too and is a really good guy inside. Holly NEEDS to go, along with Michael, Jane, Bruce and Edward.”
Others praised the show for airing “conversations we want to see”, while some leapt to Holly’s defence.
“As one of Holly’s friends and someone who’s known her since she was 17, this girl has been bullied by haters and tall poppy syndrome beings since she was barely legal!!!” said one person.
“So she has been through A LOT and still shines.”
“Holly was trying to say like she doesn’t label herself as ‘pretty privilege’ that’s something someone else thinks and that having that title isn’t always the best thing in the world,” added another.
