A hotel in Co Tyrone has been put for sale after being owned by the same family for three generations.

The Royal Hotel in Cookstown has been placed on the market with an asking price of £1.2 million.

The listing for the popular town centre event venue includes a number of adjacent residential properties.

Established in 1972, the nine-bedroom hotel on Coagh Road has been in the ownership of the Thom family for more than 50 years.

The listing from Avison Young states the owners now plan to retire, with the hospitality asset placed on the commercial property market.

They have also put a small portfolio of residential properties on the market.

The selling agents describe the venue as “one of Mid Ulster’s most popular full-service hotels”, which has been fitted to a high specification with “little capex required”.

Avison Young state a “fully let” residential investment portfolio offers an additional income for any prospective new owners.

However, the listing states the additional neighbouring buildings offer the potential for a expansion of the hotel.

Alongside its nine bedrooms, the Royal Hotel features five function rooms.
