A major Garda operation was sparked yesterday after a plane made an unscheduled landing outside Letterkenny.
The light aircraft landed at the local airstrip known as Stevenson’s Aerodrome at Dromore.
Information on the landing was received by the Irish Aviation Authority.
However, as the landing was not scheduled, details of the landing were passed on to local gardai.
Local gardai the launched a probe into the landing and a number of units were dispatched to the scene.
Donegal Daily understands that the pilot of the plane was questioned by officers.
However, the plane later took off and continued its journey.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed “Gardaí responded to an unscheduled landing of a plane that took place in the Donegal Divisional area on the afternoon of the 12th of November 2025.
“Following enquiries, no criminal offences were disclosed.
“No further information is available.”
