A prominent lawyer accused of helping two clients to hide assets from creditors told investigators a €10,000 bank draft they gave him a month before they were declared bankrupt was to discharge legal fees and outlays due to him for representing them, a tribunal has heard.
Personal insolvency solicitor Anthony Joyce insisted this was the case despite a handwritten note from one of the clients, William Burke, stating that the money was to be held “in trust”.
