On November 18, November’s batch of new PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra catalog additions will arrive. Every month, Sony updates its subscription service with new AAA, indie, and retro games for its subscribers to try on PS4 or PS5. Some months are better than others, and it seems like we have a pretty good month on our hands.

Notably, Grand Theft Auto V returns to the catalog this month, with a remaster of Red Dead Redemption following on December 2. That is perfect timing, considering that Grand Theft Auto VI was just delayed by six months and won’t be out until a year from now. PlayStation players now have a really easy way to experience some of Rockstar’s greatest hits until then.

Still, you might be looking at the full list of games on PlayStation Blog and be having trouble deciding what to play first. To help give you a better idea of what’s worth your time, I’m sharing my ranking of all eight of November’s new PS Plus Premium and Extra games. Hopefully, this can help you decide what to check out next.

MotoGP 25

Available on PS4 and PS5

MotoGP is an annualized series of motocross video games. Its motocross simulation gameplay is pretty similar to other Milestone games, but this one benefits from officially licensed MotoGP riders, bikes, and tracks.

If you’re a fan of MotoGP, you’ll enjoy MotoGP 25, but that also means you’ve probably already picked it up. Otherwise, it’s probably not worth your time unless you’re planning on getting into MotoGP in the near future.

Monster Jam Showdown

Available on PS4 and PS5

Another racing game from Milestone, Monster Jam Showdown swaps up the motocross bikes for monster trucks. This game is a lot more willing to get silly, and does feature well-known trucks like Grave Digger for those who keep up with Monster Jam in the real world.

I’m ranking this game slightly above MotoGP because racing with monster trucks is more entertaining than a straight-up motocross simulation. That said, if you don’t like racing games, you’re better off playing any of the games above these two titles on the list.

Insurgency: Sandstorm

Available on PS4 and PS5

While it has never gone as mainstream as many other shooter franchises, the Insurgency games are sneaky good first-person shooters. Insurgency: Sandstorm is still updated to this day, and its PS5 port is now on PS Plus, making it easy for subscribers to check it out.

Other shooters like Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Battlefield 6, and Arc Raiders are probably more worth your time right now. That said, Insurgency: Sandstorm leans into tactical gameplay and realism more than many of its peers, so you may still want to check it out if that’s appealing to you.

Still Wakes the Deep

Available on PS5

We may be a few weeks past Halloween, but if you’re in the mood for a horror game, then you should play Still Wakes the Deep. This game from the developers of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 takes place entirely on an oil rig off the coast of Scotland as an eldritch horror overtakes it in the 1970s.

If you like first-person horror games such as Amnesia or SOMA, then Still Wakes The Deep should be right up your alley. It looks great, features a lot of intense encounters and scares, and stands as one of The Chinese Room’s best games. It has been on Xbox Game Pass for a while, so I’m glad PS Plus subscribers will now be able to try it out as well.

Tomb Raider Anniversary (PS2)

Available on PS4 and PS5 for PS Plus Premium subscribers

November’s retro offering to PS Plus Premium subscribers is the PS2 version of Tomb Raider Anniversary. This was a 2007 remake of the first game in the series, modernizing the controls so it feels a little closer to games of the era than the original Resident Evil. While the original game has been remastered, this remake had yet to be re-released like this.

While it does feel a little dated nowadays, you may want to check it out during this indefinite wait for the next Tomb Raider game. Like the other PS2 ports on PS Plus Premium, this version lets players create save states while playing, which should help smooth over any rough edges.

The Talos Principle 2

Available on PS5

The Talos Principle 2 is one of 2023’s most underrated games. It’s a first-person puzzle game where the simple task of pressing a button at the end of a corridor can quickly become complex. You’ll be redirecting laser beams, activating pressure plates, and playing with perspective to solve its many puzzles.

All of that is backed by a thought-provoking story about a world run by AI, which has only grown more timely since its release. If Blue Prince is your game of the year and you haven’t played The Talos Principle 2 yet, you should change that now that it’s part of the PS Plus Extra game catalog.

Pacific Drive

Available on PS5

For fans of roguelikes, Pacific Drive is the game to check out this month. In it, players have to drive a station wagon through a supernatural exclusion zone in the northwestern United States. A successful run will be the result of properly balancing resource gathering, maintaining your vehicle, and dealing with the supernatural anomalies that come your way.

While the roguelike genre is incredibly played out at this point, Pacific Drive still feels particularly unique. I also came to care for my car more than I ever did for the vehicles in games like MotoGP 25, so this is the game car enthusiasts should be checking out as well.

Thank Goodness You’re Here

Available on PS4 and PS5

Thank Goodness You’re Here is one of the funniest games of the decade and one of 2024’s most memorable games. You play a salesman who is trying to help the people of a fictional English town called Barnsworth, but the things people ask the player to help with get increasingly ridiculous and hilarious.

It has the charm and gameplay loop of Untitled Goose Game infused with the quintessentially British humor of The IT Crowd. It can be beaten in just a couple of hours, so it’s a good game to play if you’re looking to cheer yourself up over the weekend.

Red Dead Redemption

Available on PS4 and PS5

Last week, Rockstar announced that it will release ports of Red Dead Redemption (which game to PS4 in 2023) for PS5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch 2, and Netflix on December 2. On that same date, the PS4 and PS5 versions of Red Dead Redemption will be added to the PS Plus catalog. If you’re somehow unfamiliar, Red Dead Redemption took the Grand Theft Auto formula and reimagined it in a wild west setting.

It still holds up today and can now be played at 4K resolution and 60 FPS on PS5. I’ve been itching to replay this game for a while, and its addition to this subscription service finally gives me an excuse to do so. The only reason it’s not in the top spot is that it doesn’t arrive until December 2.

Grand Theft Auto V

Available on PS4 and PS5

Grand Theft Auto V needs little introduction. Considering how much the game has already sold, you’ve probably played it. If you don’t own on a PlayStation console, you’ll appreciate that both the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game are now back in the PlayStation Plus catalog.

This gives you a good chance to replay the game’s single-player content or see what you missed in the GTA Online updates that have happened since you last played. While it’s frustrating that we’re still a year away from Grand Theft Auto VI, this game’s return to this subscription service couldn’t have been better timed.

A great month for PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra

Key art for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium's Game Catalog

This is yet another great month of additions to the PS Plus Premium and Extra game catalog. While the two new games from Milestone are negligible, I can easily recommend Grand Theft Auto V and all of the indie and AA games that came to the service this month.

I’m certainly going to use this as an excuse to dive back into Pacific Drive, Red Dead Redemption, and Thank Goodness You’re Here. Hopefully, one of this month’s games speaks to you on a personal level like that, too.
