A tanker has been brought to provide water to Buncrana residents, as an ongoing outage continues.

Uisce Éireann say that the water outage has been caused by a reservoir interruption.

Crews are on scene attempting to return water supply to affected homes and businesses, but in the meantime an alternative water source in the form of a tanker has been provided at the Buncrana Fire Station.

Uisce Éireann are asking those making use of water from the tanker to boil it before use to ensure it is safe to consume.

In a statement, the water utilities provider said the following:

“An alternative water supply is available at the fire station in Buncrana for the duration of the works. Please boil the water before use.”

“Uisce Éireann makes every effort to ensure that the alternative drinking water supply provided, including the tanker/bowser, and dispensing tap, are adequately disinfected.”

“However, as it is not practical to provide sterilised containers for the public to transport drinking water from the tanker to their homes, we cannot guarantee that any containers used by the public do not negatively impact or contaminate the drinking water.”

No estimated time of repair has been issued as of yet.
