Google is adding a small but genuinely useful upgrade to the Play Store, and it should make your next movie night a little less confusing. The company has started rolling out a new “Where to watch” section inside Play Store search. So when you look up a specific movie or TV show, you’ll also see which streaming apps currently host that title (via 9to5Google).

Play Store is cutting the pain out of finding where a movie or show streams

For example, let’s say you want to watch a popular movie or series but have zero idea where it might be streaming. One easy way to handle this you can search for the title on Google search, and that might be the inspiration for what’s coming to Play Store.

So when you type in a movie or show title on the Play Store, it will show a card listing services where the show is available. If you don’t have one of these apps installed, you don’t need to hunt for it manually. A quick install button appears right below the listing.

There is one limitation, though, and Google doesn’t hide it. The Play Store tells you where a title is available, but it doesn’t clarify whether the show or movie is included with your subscription or if you’ll need to buy an add-on. This is where things get a bit tricky.

Even with that caveat, the upgrade makes Play Store search feel more modern. It fills a gap that has existed since movies and shows shifted out of the Play Store into their own app. The feature is rolling out gradually, and it may take a bit of time before it shows up on every Android device. Once it lands, searching for something to watch should feel a little less painful.
