England will be keen to maintain their 100% record in their final FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifying match against Albania. The Three Lions travel to Tirana on Sunday afternoon, having beaten Serbia 2-0 in their penultimate match on Thursday.
It was Arsenal’s duo of Bukayo Saka and Eberechi Eze who came up with the goods to steer Thomas Tuchel‘s side to a seventh consecutive victory. Alongside their perfect record in qualifying, England have yet to concede in Group K.
Despite already qualifying for next year’s competition following their 5-0 win over Latvia, motivation to keep their unblemished run will be sky-high. England earned a victory in the reverse fixture back in March, courtesy of goals from Myles Lewis-Skelly and Harry Kane.
Tuchel’s high standards were on show in his post-match comments as he lamented his side’s pressing of Serbia in the second-half. The German said: “I liked the first half a lot. I think we deserved to go up, I think we deserved to have maybe a second goal with Harry’s header.
“Second-half, we didn’t get the pressing right all the time, they escaped sometimes from the deep build-up into fast attacks so the back four had to work hard to keep the clean sheet. We had to overcome some difficult moments but I like it, not everything is easy.”

While England’s place at the World Cup next year was already secured before their victory over Serbia, Tuchel could opt to make a few changes in their last qualifying fixture against Albania.
After beginning Thursday’s clash on the bench before coming on, Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden could make a return to the starting XI in Tirana. Adam Wharton, who came on late in the game to earn his second cap, could add to his international appearances on Sunday while a senior debut could be in line for ex-Liverpool star Jarell Quansah.
