Cillian Murphy is now an Oscar-winning star thanks to his performance in Oppenheimer, but before he teamed with Christopher Nolan for the legendary WWII epic, he starred in a horror film that’s found a second life on streaming. Murphy stars alongside Emily Blunt (The Smashing Machine) and John Krasinski (Jack Ryan) in A Quiet Place Part II, the 2021 horror sequel following the Abbott family as they face yet another dangerous threat. A Quiet Place Part II is streaming on Paramount+ globally, where it’s quietly become one of the top 10 most popular movies on the platform at the time of writing.

A Quiet Place Part II was yet another massive success for writer/director John Krasinski, who proved himself to be a formidable director with his work on the first film. With a budget of $61 million, A Quiet Place Part II grossed $297 million at the global box office, falling just short of the coveted $300 million worldwide milestone. The film was beloved by critics and audiences alike, though, earning impeccable scores of 91% from the former and 92% from the latter on Rotten Tomatoes. Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe also star in A Quiet Place Part II as Regan and Marcus Abbott.

First famed for his role as Jim Halpert in The Office, Krasinski made his directorial debut in 2016 on The Hollars, a coming-of-age comedy in which he also stars alongside Anna Kendrick. He then switched genres with 2018’s mega hit, A Quiet Place, which has spawned both a sequel and a prequel project, all of which have found financial and critical success. However, things are anything but quiet in Krasinski’s horror franchise.

Are They Making Another ‘Quiet Place’ Movie?

Paramount and John Krasinski are making another Quiet Place movie, A Quiet Place Part III, which will be released in theaters on July 20, 2027. Plot details and casting are being kept under wraps, but Krasinski will return to the director’s chair and also write the script for the film. He passed off directorial duties to Michael Sarnoski for the 2024 prequel, A Quiet Place: Day One, which stars Lupita N’yongo and Joseph Quinn. Jeff Nichols (The Bikeriders) was originally attached to direct the prequel, but he backed out of the project due to creative differences with John Krasinski.

Be sure to watch A Quiet Place Part II on Paramount+ and stay tuned to Collider for more streaming updates.
