After almost a decade of playing half-siblings on Game of Thrones, Kit Harington and Sophie Turner are now starring as lovers in the upcoming film The Dreadful.

Naturally, the pair found it pretty strange going from playing siblings to lovers, with Sophie telling Seth Meyers this summer that she and Kit were both “retching” after shooting their first kissing scene.

“We get on set and it’s the first kissing scene and we are both retching,” she said. “Like, really, it is vile. It was the worst. Another really bad moment in my career.”
Now, Kit has opened up further about what it was like kissing Sophie in the new project.

Speaking with E! News this week, Kit admitted that while his and Sophie’s sibling-like bond made kissing scenes “weird” enough, things were extra awkward because of their height difference. Sophie is reportedly 5’9”, and while a Google search lists Kit’s height as 5’8”, this has never been confirmed. Here’s a pic of them side-by-side:

Revealing that he had to stand on a literal box in order to kiss Sophie, Kit recalled, “It was slightly embarrassing, having to get on an apple box to kiss her because she’s about a foot taller than me. But other than that, my dignity was pretty intact.”

Kit also echoed Sophie’s comments about how awkward it was going from playing siblings to lovers. “She was one that sent that movie to me and somehow didn’t see what I saw in it. I was like, ‘These guys, these are lovers, right?’ I felt very odd about that.”

However, Kit maintained that he and Sophie had a great time shooting the film. “It was a good chance to be with her again and work together. What was lovely is that we got on set together and our friendship completely ignited again. It felt like being with family. It really did,” he said.
