Sligo University Hospital is the most overcrowded hospital in the country.

That’s according to today’s Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation figures, which show over 350 patients were waiting for a bed at facilities nationwide.

Sligo University Hospital is by far the busiest in the region and busiest in the country today, with 49 people waiting for bed.

This includes 30 in the emergency department and 19 elsewhere in the hospital.

Meanwhile, there was one patient on a trolley at Midland Regional Hospital Mullingar.

Nationally, there are 359 patients waiting for a bed in hospitals today.
