Chadwick Boseman’s depiction of T’Challa in Black Panther was more than a major moment for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It allowed the actor to build upon his legacy, which will be honored on the Hollywood Walk of Fame with an even more significant star placement.

Variety confirmed that the actor, who passed away in 2020 after battling colon cancer, would be immortalized on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The actor’s star has been placed near the Dolby Theater, where the world premiere of Black Panther was held in 2018. “It means it won’t be missed,” Black Panther co-star Lupita Nyong’o said regarding where Boseman’s star has been cemented, calling the location “a place of prominence for a king.”

Eyes of Wakanda Showrunner Explains Why the Black Panther Prequel Couldn’t Have Been Made as a Live-Action Series

Eyes of Wakanda showrunner Todd Harris explains why the animated Black Panther prequel would have never worked as a live-action Disney+ series.

“He is on an ancestral plane and the more we utter his name, the more his spirit stays alive,” Nyong’o said when remembering Boseman at the Walk of Fame ceremony. “It’s hard to articulate without sounding grandiose. But there was something about him that you couldn’t explain why he moved you so much. It went through the screen and into so many people’s hearts.”

The actress reflected on Boseman’s work, and his impact on how diversity in entertainment has been recognized. “Chadwick didn’t really do it for the accolades; he did it for how it would move people individually and societally forward,” Nyong’o said. “His art was in service to that.” She also touched on how culturally important the Black Panther has become, and how Boseman was the right fit for the role. “Chadwick had an aura about him that was fit for a king. He was born to play that role [of T’Challa], and he brought his whole self to it. But, at the same time, working with him was pedestrian.”

Marvel Studios has made a careful and conscious effort to retain Boseman’s iconic prominence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe while still carrying on with the Black Panther saga. Despite the countless rumors that T’Challa would be recast, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has passed the Black Panther mantle down to Shuri (Letitia Wright) and introduced T’Challa’s son, Prince T’Challa II (Divine Love Konadu-Sun). While the rumor mill still spins ideas as to who could take over the role of T’Challa, it remains endlessly clear that Chadwick Boseman cannot be replaced.

Director Ryan Coogler has confirmed that Black Panther 3 will be his next project, and there’s already been speculation of a possible title. During a Sinners panel at Deadline’s Contenders Film: Los Angeles, Coogler did make note that he’d be making his way back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “[Coolger] confirmed to Deadline’s Mike Fleming Jr. that Black Panther 3 is his next movie as he is hard at work completing the MCU trilogy,” Deadline reports.

There is no release date for Black Panther 3.
