Filmmaker and animator John Kelly (45), is the director of the award-winning animated short ‘Retirement Plan’, voiced by Domhnall Gleeson, which is in contention for an Academy Award shortlist. He lives in Dublin with his wife and two children, aged eight and 10.
My dad was a chemical engineer teaching at UCD, and my mum was a homemaker. They kind of had a very neat arrangement of one child, then two years later another child, then two years later another child – then a six-year gap. I was labelled god’s little surprise. I have two brothers and one sister.
