Recent episodes of South Park have seen Donald Trump in bed with Vice President JD Vance, and also mocked his tiny manhood, but the President hasn’t hit out at the series

Donald Trump is no stranger to speaking his mind, especially when it comes to attacking comedy.
The current president has been the butt of jokes in most episodes of the latest seasons of South Park. But surprisingly, he’s kept quiet about the various jokes, including one where he is in a relationship – and sharing a bed – with Satan.
Trump, 79, has shared tirades on social media against late-night hosts who have poked fun at him, including Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, and Seth Meyers. But comedian Patton Oswalt thinks he knows why Trump’s been quiet about the long-running adult cartoon show. Patton shared his theory on an episode of The Daily Beast’s Last Laugh podcast.

“Nothing shuts Trump up like money,” Patton said. “He can argue that Stephen Colbert isn’t getting the ratings and isn’t making the money, even though the show is brilliant. But it’s not that Stephen Colbert is slipping in the ratings, it’s that the whole infrastructure of late-night television is slipping.”
Patton pointed out that South Park is doing anything but slipping, as since it started airing episodes poking fun at Trump and members of his administration, the show has experienced record ratings numbers.

The comedian explained, “South Park, not only does it make insane amount of some money, it gets insane ratings. And Trump can only be so angry at that, because what Trump ultimately will respect, even if it doesn’t respect him, is something where the numbers are through the roof, and the money is through the roof.”
“He can’t look at South Park and see how brilliant it is, and he can’t look at something like John Oliver and see how equally brilliant it is,” Patton continued, “All he can think of in terms of, look at this guy’s numbers, look at their numbers, and that’s the only way he sees the world.”

Patton concluded, “Something that is as massive and as undeniable as South Park, both in quality, which people like you and I can see, but then in numbers and money, which Trump can see, he just falls silent.
“If Colbert was making South Park money and getting ‘South Park’ eyes on him, Trump wouldn’t know what to do.”
Trump himself hasn’t condemned the show, but the White House has. After the season 27 premiere, a spokesperson said that the show has “no authentic or original content, which is why their popularity continues to hit record lows”—something that’s been proven wrong.
