The academic success of the Burkes could hardly be rivalled by any family in Ireland.
All 10 of the offspring of Sean and Martina Burke, from Castlebar, Co Mayo, achieved over 520 points in their Leaving Certs. They also all graduated with first-class honours degrees from University of Galway.
