There’s big news to share with the MMR family. Beasley Media Group has announced that our longtime friend Matt Cord is coming back to 93.3 WMMR to take over Middays starting Monday, December 1, 2025. Matt steps into the slot held for decades by the one and only Pierre Robert. We’ll never move on, but we do have to continue on.”

Matt has been hosting mornings over at WMGK since 2023, after 2 & ½ years as MGK’s midday voice. Before that, he spent a huge part of his career at MMR in afternoons, evenings, and even a run in middays back in the mid 90s. In other words, he’s never been far from the MMR family tree.

Listeners know Matt for his upbeat energy, his love of classic rock, and his deep connection to Philly. Sports fans know him as the longtime in-arena voice of the Philadelphia 76ers, a role he’s proudly held for more than twenty years.

Matt shared some heartfelt words about taking on the job and honoring his close friend Pierre:

“Although no one can step into those sparkling high-top Converse and fill them, I’ve known Pierre for 35 years. I was honored to do middays from 1994 to 1995 when Pierre moved to mornings in the wake-up and smell the karma days. Along with MMR’s listeners, I’ve had so many cool moments with The Duke.

The people who have worked at the station over the years have formed a brotherhood and sisterhood. Pierre was at the heart of it. Nobody replaces Pierre, and that needs to be clear. But this will be my third stint at MMR, and I was never far away. I promise to carry his amazing spirit into the studio that now bears his name and do my best to make him proud.”

WMMR Program Director Chuck Damico shared how meaningful this decision is for the station:

“Losing Pierre so suddenly is something none of us ever imagined. Trying to figure out how to move forward and who could possibly follow him in middays has been incredibly challenging. We’re grateful that our longtime friend Matt is willing to take this on. He’s a 40-year Philly radio veteran, trusted, talented, welcoming, and beloved by the rock community. No one can replace Pierre, but Matt will make him proud. Bringing Matt back home is the first step in healing and moving forward.”

Listeners will continue to hear Work Force Blocks and are encouraged to write in and request blocks of music to be played on 93.3 WMMR. The vinyl record feature will still happen every weekday at 2:15pm as “Pierre’s Vinyl Cut”. He’ll ring the bells and play the notorious Presidents coffee clip every Friday. And get ready for new features like Lame Ass Trivia, a game that Matt admits to stealing from fellow Y100 DJ, Preston Elliot, years ago.

The history that Matt Cord has with this city and the radio station runs deep. This next chapter is bittersweet, but we are happy to welcome our friend back to the MMR airwaves.
