Just when you think you’ve heard it all, Kate Beckinsale will say something really surprising.

Beckinsale, 52, claimed during her Monday, November 24, appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that her daughter Lily’s boyfriend recently laid two eggs

“We’ve had a tough couple of years. Both my parents passed away within the last few years,” the actress said on the ABC late-night show, referencing the boyfriend: “And literally the only bright spot in the whole time came from him.”

“Wow, that’s nice,” host Jimmy Kimmel replied. “That’s a nice thing to hear.”

Kate Beckinsale has had a lot of highs and lows throughout her life. Beckinsale lost her father, Richard Beckinsale, when she was 5 years old. Four years later, her mom, Judy Loe, moved on with director Roy Battersby, who became Kate’s stepfather in 1997. While coping with the loss of her father, who was an […]

“He laid two eggs in a week is what the bright spot was,” Beckinsale remarked as a look of confusion formed on Kimmel’s face.

Without identifying the boyfriend, the Serendipity star went on to recall a moment when he “went to the bathroom and then was very surprised to find that he had laid an egg.” Beckinsale told Kimmel, 58, that “it had a shell and a yolk” and “came out the route that it would come out a hen.”

Beckinsale claimed that “the first time it happened, he was genuinely scared.” He “crushed it, to see what was inside. A yolk was inside, like a hard-boiled one, kind of cooked inside him.”

One week later, 26-year-old Lily — whom Beckinsale shares with ex Michael Sheen — sent her a text with the news that “he’s done it again.”

When Kimmel asked if she truly believed Lily’s beau, she said that she did “because he was so scared.” She then showed Kimmel a photo of one of the eggs. His mouth fell open and he enthused, “Your daughter’s boyfriend is the Easter Bunny — there’s no other way to explain this!”

Beckinsale and Sheen, 56, welcomed Lily in 1999, four years ahead of their split. The exes co-parent amicably, with Beckinsale previously stating that they have “a really similar sense of humor, and I do find that humor can save an awful lot of things and help a lot of things.”

In a 2019 interview with Good Morning America, Beckinsale, often a chatty and humorous talk-show guest, confessed that Lily helps keep her in check

“Absolutely,” she said of her only child. “I was on a talk show the other night and they were like, ‘Hey, how do you feel about rapping Hamilton? I was like, ‘Well, she [will] never speak to me again. That’d be over.’ I’m trying to behave myself as much as I possibly can. I’d get in trouble.”
