Alissa White-Gluz has taken to social media to comment on the support she’s received since parting ways with Arch Enemy over the weekend. That announcement of her departure from the Swedish melodic death metal mavens was made this past Sunday, November 23rd.
She had been a member of the band since 2014, replacing Angela Gossow. Alissa paired her exit from the group with the debut of her new solo single, “The Room Where She Died“. Several days removed from that big reveal, she commented on social media this morning, November 26th:
“Wow.
I am blown away by the outpouring of love and support I have received over the past few days. Times of transition can be especially intense for the mind, body and heart. I don’t take any of this lightly. But, the overwhelmingly positive response to “The Room Where She Died” has given me so much renewed energy and clarity about who I am as an artist and why I love singing and creating music.
I am proud of the body of work I have been building for decades. After so many years of honing my skills as a vocalist, song-writer and performer; absorbing and learning with every show, every album, every video and every meet & greet, I am excited to let my solo work stand on its own.”
Alissa has been pursuing her solo career for years now, completing her debut album back in 2022. As for her replacement in Arch Enemy, you can rule out a return of the band’s original vocalist Johan Liiva. The latter confirmed via social media that he had been a fan of Alissa in that role and will not be hopping back in the saddle. In an interesting note, the above-mentioned video for Alissa‘s new single finds her playing the signature guitar of her former Arch Enemy bandmate Michael Amott.
