Wherever Meghan Markle goes, headlines follow. The Duchess of Sussex, throughout her career as an actor, royal, lifestyle influencer (and now actor again), is no stranger to generating divisive opinions. There are those who treat With Love, Meghan as a gospel for hosting and snap up the jams, dried flowers, and mulled wine kits from As Ever as soon as they hit the virtual shelves. The Duchess of Northumberland, it seems, does not consider herself in this camp.

Jane Percy, chatelaine of Alnwick Castle, is something of a polymath. Not only is she the mastermind behind the fairytale playground Lilidorei (itself home to the largest play structure and the largest treehouse in the world), she is also a freshly minted author, having launched a children’s book set in the Lilidorei universe. Her first novel, Amantina, was published this week under the pen name ‘Jane Northumberland’, with the Duchess explaining to The Telegraph that she is very deliberate about how she uses – and doesn’t use – her title.
