“I feel like this is the most sincere interview we’ve done this whole junket. Don’t you think?”
So muses Elizabeth Olsen to her Eternity castmates Callum Turner and Miles Teller at the top of the latest Off the Cuff, in which the actors trade spirited ice-breakers, get a little personal, and then submit to an almighty Lightning Round.
Things start off simply enough: The last song Turner listened to? Delightfully, it’s “Mi Gente” by J Balvin and Willy William. (“Callum’s been singing it all day,” Teller interjects, a little wearily.) An interesting fact they learned recently? For Teller, it’s that people who dig tunnels in New York are known as sandhogs, “and it’s a very dangerous job.” (No kidding!) Later, when asked what skill she’d like to be the best in the world at, Olsen wastes no time poking holes in that very premise: “Then where do you go from there?” And if you’ve ever wondered what the three would do for work if they weren’t actors, their answers run the gamut: while Turner would likely be a plumber, Olsen thinks she’d be in interior design, and Teller would do something with music.
The intriguing revelations continue. Did you know that Olsen and Teller were a year apart in drama school at NYU? (Another Eternity co-star, John Early, was also a classmate!) Or that Olsen used to watch either Waiting for Guffman or The First Wives’ Club before bed as a child? (Taste!) Or that Chelsea winning the Champions League title was a moment that Turner would re-live for eternity? (The man loves his football!)
At other points during the lightning round, Teller shares the sweet story of how he and his wife, Keleigh, met; Turner says that he’d like to spend eternity with his fiancée, “Dua”; and Olsen says that as a ghost, she’d like to wear black linen pants that she’s had forever and a cashmere top from The Row. Honestly, no notes.
