Season 5 of Stranger Things is well underway, and one of its stars is rumored to be in the running for one of the more underrated X-Men characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Disney acquiring 20th Century Fox, the X-Men will make an appearance in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, and fans are speculating whether Millie Bobby Brown will, at some point in the future, appear in the MCU as a member of the X-Men.

According to ComicBookMovie, there are rumors that Brown, who plays Eleven on Stranger Things, could be part of an X-Men reboot helmed by Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier and writer Michel Leslie. Scooper @MyTimeToShineH claims that Brown could be up for a role in the upcoming MCU X-Men reboot and says the actress could play a role like Shadowcat, or even Rogue, or Jean Grey.

MCU fans shouldn’t get too excited about Brown’s debut in the X-Men franchise, as the scooper hasn’t revealed Brown’s exact role in the movie, as it’s still a rumor. So far, nothing has been confirmed by Disney regarding Brown’s involvement in any upcoming MCU installment. However, it should be noted that Avengers: Doomsday directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo directed Brown in the 2025 Netflix movie The Electric State. It’s also been reported that the Russo brothers will oversee the next MCU saga as consultants.

This summer, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige touched on the X-Men reboot, saying, “There’ve been more X-Men movies than there were Spidey movies or Fantastic Four movies, so a lot has been done,” Feige said at that time. “But again, because it’s because it’s almost a comic legacy onto itself, there’s so much more to tap into it and there’s so many sagas within sagas for X-Men that that’s part of what we’re talking about now is which saga to grow and build to while doing the most important thing, which is introducing all of these characters and giving them their due in our first film,” he added.

“I’m not going to speak to the makeup of the characters that will be in the first movie, but look at Galactus, look at Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine, look at Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine,” Feige said. “We want to embrace that which was not embraced 25 years ago when I was around on those early X-Men movies, which is those comic-accurate looks,” he concluded.

The X-Men reboot so far doesn’t have an official release date, but it has been speculated that it could hit theaters sometime in 2028. In the meantime, fans of the 20th Century Fox-era X-Men can catch 2011’s X-Men: First Class on HBO Max as it just dropped on the platform on Dec. 1. The film starred James McAvoy as Professor Charles Xavier and Michael Fassbender as Eric Lensherr (Magneto).

The film was a huge hit when it was released 14 years ago, earning more than $352 million worldwide. It also boasts a certified fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes with an 86% from critics and an 87% from more than 10,000 fan reviews. X-Men: First Class also starred Jennifer Lawrence, Kevin Bacon, Rose Byrne, January Jones, Zoë Kravitz, Nicholas Hoult, and Oliver Platt.

While fans wait to see if Brown is included in the next X-Men film, they can catch her in the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, which is streaming on Netflix.
