With the anticipation building for Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel Studios appears to be copying the playbook from the playbook’s predecessor to drum up interest ahead of its late 2026 premiere. A new report offers insight into Marvel’s marketing plan for Doomsday, which mirrors what the studio did for the last Avengers movie, Avengers: Endgame.
Per insider Cryptic HD Quality on X (formerly Twitter), Marvel is playing the long game with Avengers: Doomsday like they did with its predecessor to keep MCU enthusiasts wanting more as its premiere draws closer. The insider claims Marvel will drop “teases here and there” until next summer before stepping up the previews. Additionally, Marvel will “leverage past films for a bit of the marketing drive as well,” to try and get fans up to speed on the MCU heading into Avengers: Doomsday.
Six years after Avengers: Endgame’s release and set 14 months after the events of Thunderbolts*, Avengers: Doomsday has a lot to live up to, considering its predecessor’s place in film history, let alone the superhero genre. Avengers: Endgame is the second-highest-grossing film in history, making just under $2.8 million worldwide, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest superhero blockbusters ever, with a 94% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes and two Oscar nominations to its name. If the report is accurate, it makes sense for Marvel to use a similar marketing formula to promote a Doomsday film that, like Endgame, could reshape the MCU drastically.
Avengers: Doomsday will see several heroes and antiheroes lineup to take on the MCU’s newest big bad, Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, including Captain America, the original X-Men, the Thunderbolts/New Avengers, the Wakandans and The Fantastic Four. The movie could also feature other prominent protagonists in the MCU-altering fight against Victor Von Doom, with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and more rumored to feature in the upcoming event film. Additionally, Chris Evans, best known for playing Steve Rogers/Captain America, who retired in Avengers: Endgame, is back in Avengers: Doomsday in an undisclosed role.
Joe and Anthony Russo returned to Marvel for Avengers: Doomsday and its sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, which looks set to reboot the MCU. The Russos have promised big things from Avengers: Doomsday, which they believe can be better than their previous Avengers movies. Joe told GamesRadar+ earlier this year, “Absolutely, we want to beat those younger versions of ourselves. We have to be, right? Because we have to outdo those movies in a way, or we at least have to take you on an equally engaging journey.”

Avengers: Doomsday has been in production in the U.K. since the spring and is expected to be shot concurrently with Secret Wars. Some actors in Doomsday have confirmed they’ve completed filming their scenes in the movie, including Pedro Pascal, who’ll reprise his role as The Fantastic Four’s Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, and Alan Cumming, who features as the X-Men’s Nightcrawler. Pascal previously clarified his role in Avengers: Doomsday amid rumors that his character will lead the rebuilt Avengers.
Some Avengers: Doomsday story beats have been confirmed, including some of the film taking place in a familiar location, while the sequel will explore a major MCU death. Doomsday is a part of the MCU’s Phase Six, coming after The Fantastic Four: First Steps and Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Avengers: Doomsday opens in theaters across North America on Dec. 18, 2026.
