The romance of a winter wedding is long forgotten when a family expands and the daily grind takes over

Busy family life will get in the way of romance or even remembering your wedding anniversary. Photo posed: Getty
In theory, a winter wedding sounds great – a candlelight ceremony, roaring fire at the reception, maybe a little bit of snow on the hills for the photos, if you remember to bury the Child of Prague in the bottom of the chest freezer alongside a haunch of venison someone gave you in 2007 which you never quite knew what to do with.
What you don’t tend to think about is other people – all the poor souls who you expect to fork out for a kMix off the wedding register at Brown Thomas, not to mention forcing friends and family into splashing out for an overnight in some four star hotel in Ballygobackwards right before Christmas, but you spend even less thought on two of the most important people – future you.
