Irish soccer star Denise O’Sullivan is officially starting her wedding planning – and so far, it looks like she’s doing it all from her hometown.
The Knocknaheeny native recently put down roots in Raleigh, the city capital of North Carolina – a long way from Cork, where she is the star player with her team, the North Carolina Courage in the US National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).
But you can’t take the Rebel county out of the footballer, and the star shared some cute snaps on social media, hinting that the prep is already underway for her special day.

Denise started her day by paying a visit to Memories Bridal Boutique on Tuckey Street, where she was all smiles after choosing her wedding dress, captioning the photo “I said yes to the dress”. Her followers will have to wait a bit longer for the big reveal, though, with the bridal boutique teasing “Wait till you see what she has chosen”.
Afterwards, Denise and her fiancé, James Hamblin, spent the evening wedding menu tasting, and shared some gorgeous snaps of the couple.

There was no shortage of lovely comments from her followers, with one writing: “Enjoy girl…..such an exciting time”.
Fellow Irish footballer, Leanne Kiernan, quipped: “I’m sitting by the postbox waiting on the invite”.
Denise and James have been together since the Summer of 2022 and got engaged in March, but they first met nine years ago when Denise moved to the US after being signed by the Houston Dash squad.
James, from Washington in North Carolina, works as a Senior Account Executive in the sports software company Teamworks. He has also previously played and coached American football with Campbell University and Durham University.

Outside of the office, he works as an actor and stunt double, who landed his first role on TV in the spring of 2014. Since then, he’s starred as an American football player in a range of sports films – often as an extra or in a minor role. His latest performance was as a medic in the thriller movie ‘Incision’.
Over the past few years, James has been incredibly supportive of Denise’s football career, describing her as his ‘superhero’ and ‘an inspiration’ for Ireland.
