Having emerged as the highest-grossing installment of its franchise, Predator: Badlands is now marching towards two major box office milestones. The acclaimed new film is on the verge of hitting the $100 million mark domestically and the $200 million mark worldwide, as it looks to put enough distance between itself and its estimated break-even point. Predator: Badlands cost a reported $105 million, which means that its $175 million running global haul isn’t quite enough to put it in the clear. That said, it’s enough to put it ahead of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga — director George Miller‘s epic prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road, which emerged as one of the biggest flops of 2025.

Furiosa’s failure was attributed to a general disinterest among audiences for prequel films, and compared to the underperformance of movies such as Lightyear and Solo: A Star Wars Story. Furiosa cost an estimated $170 million to produce, and concluded its global run with just $174 million. Although it earned excellent reviews — it holds a “certified fresh” 90% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes — it was ultimately deemed too much of a different beast as compared to the widely beloved Fury Road. Plus, audiences made it clear that just because they enjoyed Charlize Theron in the role of Furiosa, they weren’t automatically going to embrace somebody else playing the character. In Furiosa, the titular role was played by Anya Taylor-Joy, who remains unproven as a box office star.

‘Predator: Badlands’ Has Been Embraced by Audiences

Badlands is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, who has taken the Predator franchise to great new heights, having already reasserted its cultural viability with Prey and Predator: Killer of Killers. The new movie is sitting at a “certified fresh” 86% score on RT, where the critics’ consensus reads, “Director Dan Trachtenberg continues to take the Predator franchise in exciting new directions with Badlands, a rollicking adventure that transforms one of cinema’s most iconic brutes into a hero worth rooting for.” On an even more encouraging note, the movie’s audience score on RT is an astounding 96%, which suggests that it’s going to be a massive hit when it debuts on the PVOD market.

You can watch Predator: Badlands in theaters until then, and stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
