Ireland might be bracing for a storm next week as low pressure systems keep calling the shots, though forecasters are still scratching their heads over the exact details.

Met Eireann is keeping an eye on their weather models as they fret about potentially stormy conditions that could tear through the island of Ireland. What is certain is the incoming deluge of heavy rain and blustery winds over the next few days as low pressure systems drag unsettled weather across much of the nation.

The national weather service’s outlook said the weather will be “overall unsettled with rain, showers and the potential for strong winds at times. An unusual amount of uncertainty in the details from Monday night onwards.”

Temperatures are expected to stay on the mild side for this season, making dreams of a white Christmas look pretty far-fetched, reports the Irish Mirror.

The west and north are likely to bear the brunt of any torrential downpours, hail, gusts and possibly even thunderstorms next week.

Irish weather guru Alan O’Reilly, who runs the wildly popular @CarlowWeather account on X, is also keeping tabs on the possible stormy chaos heading our way.

He shared: “Latest weather model updates for Tuesday continue to show uncertainty on the track of potential storm.

The UKMO model has the worst outcome this morning.

Low pressure systems conveyor belt to continue

“The conveyor belt of low systems will continue coming across the Atlantic with risk of more storms this coming week.”

Meanwhile, the weekend kicked off with damp and blustery conditions in many regions, as Status Yellow rain warnings for the counties of Cork and Kerry expired at 9am on Saturday, December 6.

Today’s forecast calls for a generally breezy day with scattered showers evolving into longer periods of rain.
