Infant boy in critical condition following two car collision in Dundalk

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the crash that occurred on the R132 at Dowdallshill, Dundalk, last night at approximately 8.20pm.

An infant boy is in a critical condition following a two car collision in Dundalk.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the crash that occurred close to the junction of the R132 and N52 near Dundalk stadium, last night at approximately 8.20pm.

The female driver of the first car, aged in her late 20s was removed from the scene to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda with non-life threatening injuries. 

The infant boy a passenger of the car, was removed to the Children’s University Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The male driver of the second vehicle, aged in his early 50s and the female passenger, a teenager were removed from the scene to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda with non-life threatening injuries.

The N52 is currently closed and awaiting Forensic Collision Investigator to conduct an examination of the scene.  Local diversions in place.

Investigations are ongoing. 

Due to the incident the Dowdallshill Kids Christmas party, which was due to take place today, has been cancelled.
