Two Status Orange wind warnings have been issued for 11 counties as Storm Bram is set to bring strong to gale force winds, with the strongest winds along coastal areas tomorrow.

The first will be in place from 7am to 3pm and will cover Cork, Kerry, Waterford and Wexford.

Another warning will come into effect at 10am for Clare, Limerick, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo and remain in place until 6pm.

Met Éireann has warned of the potential for flooding in low-lying coastal area, especially during high tide along with difficult travelling conditions.

It comes as a rain warning for a seven counties will also be in effect.

The Status Yellow rain warning for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Cork, Kerry, Tipperary and Waterford comes into effect at 9pm tonight and will remain in place until 9am tomorrow morning.

The forecaster said heavy rain will fall on “already saturated ground” and warned of localised flooding and difficult travel conditions, adding that outdoor events may be impacted.

Tomorrow, the entire country will be under a Status Yellow wind warning, with Met Éireann forecasting “very strong and gusty southerly winds with gales possible near coasts”.

The warning will come into place at 3am and will remain in place until 9pm tomorrow.

Met Éireann also said debris and loose objects may be displaced and outdoor events may be impacted.

It said a low-pressure system in the Atlantic will deepen rapidly as it approaches Ireland tonight, bringing heavy rain and very strong winds, and has the potential to become an impactful event.
