Burno Fernandes celebrates scoring for Manchester United against Wolves
Manchester United won 4-1 against Wolves in the Premier League on Monday evening. United took the lead in the first half through Bruno Fernandes, but the game was level at half-time after a response from the hosts.
United emerged for the second half by creating a few opportunities and restored the lead thanks to a goal from Bryan Mbeumo, who finished after an excellent Diogo Dalot breakaway. Mason Mount wrapped up an important victory with a close-range volley in the 62nd minute of the game before Fernandes put the icing on the cake by converting a penalty in the final 10 minutes.
The Reds have now moved to sixth in the Premier League table thanks to the victory. Here is how the players rated at Molineux:
Senne Lammens
Made a confident start to the game and made a superb claim in the box to alleviate pressure in the 32nd minute. Lammens couldn’t do much about the goal after some sloppy defending by his teammates. 6
Noussair Mazraoui
Solid throughout and made an important tackle early on when Wolves tried to orchestrate an attack. 6
Ayden Heaven
Started the game nervously with a dodgy pass back to Lammens, and was forced to apologise after another mix-up with his goalkeeper. Improved and settled as the game progressed. 6
Luke Shaw
Made a cracking challenge on the halfway line to deny a Wolves breakaway in the first half. Played a sloppy pass at the start of the second which led to a spell of Wolves pressure. 6
Amad
Found himself in a handful of promising positions, but his final ball wasn’t great. Had a decent effort saved by Sam Johnstone and was at the scene of the crime for Wolves’ goal. 6
Diogo Dalot
Has listened to his manager’s criticism and is notably trying to offer more in attack from left wing-back. Should have scored when he was sent through on goal by Fernandes. 7
Casemiro
Did well to start the move that led to the opening goal but was bypassed on a few occasions in the centre of the pitch. Made an excellent recovery in the box to deny a Wolves chance. 7
Bruno Fernandes
Fired United into a lead thanks to a comical goal, doing well to find the net after slipping to the ground. Assisted the third and converted the penalty. 8
Bryan Mbeumo
Had a few shots blocked in the first half and, like Amad, wasn’t alert to the danger unfolding for Wolves’ equaliser. Couldn’t miss when Dalot squared a pass across goal to him. 7
Mason Mount
Has become important in the dressing room this season. His work out of possession can often go unnoticed, but he clocked up plenty of kilometres up and down the Molineux pitch, and he scored. 8
Matheus Cunha
Cunha’s pass was under-hit for Fernandes’ goal and United got away with it. The Brazilian wasn’t at his best upon his return to Wolves, but he played a crucial role in goal to restore the lead. 7
Subs
Lisandro Martinez
More minutes under his belt. 6
Leny Yoro
Fine. 6
Kobbie Mainoo
Decent passing. 6
Joshua Zirkzee
Slick touches. 6
Patrick Dorgu
Same as Yoro. 6
