Gardai are appealing for the public’s help in solving a disturbing incident at a Co Galway Church, reporting that the man they believe responsible for the incident captured on CCTV.
Gardai report that an individual removed cash, notes and coins, from the collection box and the adjoining candelabra on Monday 8 December.
Gardai have released a description of the man caught on camera after the incident and gave details on the direction he was seen heading.
“Gardaí at Moylough are investigating a theft from St. Patrick’s Church that occurred on Monday the 8 December 2025 between 9:30am and 10:30am.
“It is reported that an individual entered the Church and removed cash and coins from the collection box and the adjoining candelabra. CCTV Footage shows a male leaving the church walking in the direction of Tuam wearing blue jeans and a brown baseball cap.
“Gardaí at Moylough are keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the area during this period and observed any suspicious activity around the St Patricks Church area of Moylough are asked to contact Moylough Garda Station on 090 9679272, the Garda Confidential line on 1800666111, or any Garda Station.”
Gardai are also looking for information on a break-in at in Leitir Mór, Connemara, on Wednesday 3 December 2025.
“Gardai in Connemara are investigating a break in to a premises at Ballinakilla, Leitir Mór that occurred at in the early hours at 4am on Wednesday 3 December 2025.
“The injured party woke to his dogs aggressively barking in the yard, shortly after a dark coloured Mitsubishi Jeep was observed speeding away from the yard. There is no registration available for this vehicle.
“Gardaí are keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the area during this period and observed any suspicious activity to contact Clifden Garda Station on 095-22500, the Garda Confidential line on 1800666111, or any Garda Station.
Gardai are also investigating a theft from a vehicle in Ballyglunin near Tuam on Monday 8 December. A window of the vehicle was broken during the incident with an iPod taken.
“Gardai in Tuam are investigating a Theft from a vehicle that occurred between in the early hours of Monday the 8/12/25 between 4am and 5am.
“The injured party reports that they woke up to a noise outside from the driveway and saw a male wearing dark clothing exiting this vehicle and running away from the driveway.
“The front passenger side window was smashed and Apple Ipod was taken from this vehicle.
“Gardaí in Tuam are keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the area during this period and observed any suspicious activity in the Ballyglunin or Garrauncreen area are asked to contact Tuam Garda Station on 093 70840, the Garda Confidential line on 1800666111, or any Garda Station.”

Gort Gardai are looking for the public’s help after a theft from a vehicle in the area. Cash was taken during the incident.
“Gardai in Gort are investigating a theft from a vehicle that occurred between 1am and 8am on Friday 5 December 2025.
“A sum of cash was taken from the unlocked vehicle.
“Gardaí in Gort would like to speak to anyone who may have been in the Circular Road area of Gort and observed any suspicious activity to contact Gort Garda Station on 091 636400, the Garda Confidential line or any Garda Station.”
Finally, Gardai are also warning the public to “be wary of Texts alleging to be from Bank of Ireland, Allied Irish Bank, An Post, Revolut or any text message asking for personal details and bank details.
They remined Irish people: “A legitimate bank will never text, email, or call you asking for your personal details such as your pin, password, or full card details.”
