The Avatar universe is set to resume this year, with the arrival of the third installment in the beloved billion-dollar franchise from James Cameron. As the Avatar franchise will be one of the final major properties to close out 2025, the audience is already showing their excitement for the highly anticipated sequel.
Despite being set to arrive in theaters next week, Avatar: Fire and Ash is already surging on the Disney+ charts, but with a crucial catch. Avatar: Fire and Ash – A Special Look was recently released on the Disney-owned streaming service, as it is currently sitting at #10 for U.S. subscribers.
However, the special look is also proving to be performing well for Disney+ internationally, too. In Croatia, Albania, Romania, the Czech Republic, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Denmark, Serbia, and Montenegro, it is trending at #4 subscribers in the respective countries.
For viewers who have Disney+ in Hong Kong, Avatar: Fire and Ash – A Special Look is holding the #3 spot while being at #5 in Hungary and South Korea. It is also charting as #6 in Chile, Argentina, Belgium, and Switzerland.
Several members of the press recently shared their Avatar: Fire and Ash reactions on social media, including ScreenRant’s Molly Freeman, Graeme Guttman, and Todd Gilchrist. Freeman shared how the film is “visually stunning,” and while having “a better spectacle-to-story balance than previous films in the series, but some of the story choices are…bizarre.”
Guttman commented that Avatar: Fire and Ash has “definitely a middle chapter feel to the film but it kind of doesn’t matter because it’s so overwhelmingly immersive.” He also stated that “Cameron has established his sandbox, he’s willing to take bigger swings & you can feel that here.”
Gilchrist added that the third installment is “the best and unexpectedly, the horniest of the three, #AvatarFireAndAsh features some astonishing filmmaking from James Cameron. Fans of the previous two will be very pleased.”
Avatar: Fire and Ash – A Special Look is now available on Disney+, with the film set to open in theaters on December 19, 2025.
