Cosy crime drama High Potential has landed a new streaming home for UK-based viewers. The US series has so far been available to watch on Disney+, however, the first season has now launched on ITVX too. It’s the latest series to do so following the partnership between the British broadcaster and Disney announced earlier this year.
A remake of Franco-Belgian show HPI and starring It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Kaitlin Olson, High Potential follows a single mother who works as a cleaner for the Los Angeles Police. However, her high IQ leads her to be recruited as a consultant by the Major Crimes division.
Debuting last year on ABC in the US, the show is currently in the middle of its second season, which is set to return for more episodes in the New Year.
High Potential has won many fans. One on IMDb described it as “clever and brilliant”, noting: “If they can keep this up, it will turn into a really good series. Very excited to watch an next episode and kudos to everyone involved.”

Another fan wrote: “I was already a fan of Kaitlin, so no surprise I love her here as well. She plays frazzled so well! I appreciate that each episode resolves the case. I’m over a series dragging out over an entire season or multiple. Just give me a solid story and conclusion in under an hour!”
Critical reviews have been fairly positive too. The Independent Online (South Africa) stated: “If you are a fan of whodunits, this one ticks the box – and then some”.
Common Sense Media argued that it was Erin Brockovich meets Psych, the show striking “a fun balance between light drama and heavy comedy, mixing the crime procedural elements with the sharp wit of Kaitlin Olson”.

“High Potential is a ‘bag of chips’ type of show – salty, crunchy, and makes you want to keep going,” added Riotus.
Alongside Olson, the series stars Rescue Me’s Daniel Sunjata, Batwoman’s Javicia Leslie, The Flight Attendant’s Deniz Akdeniz and Scrubs’ Judy Reyes.
High Potential season 1 is streaming on ITVX in the UK, with seasons 1-2 available on Disney+.
