Diamond Necklace is probably good enough to run in the Moyglare Stakes but connections have opted for this Listed contest instead. She was the lesser fancied of Aidan O’Brien’s two runners when she beat her stablemate, Minerva, at the Curragh. I liked the way she quickened, and as we’ve seen all season, the Ballydoyle 2-year-olds have bundles of improvement in them. This filly should jump forward considerably.
Dance Night Andday gets an each-way shout from stall 8 at a price. She ran really well behind Vera’s Secret over course and distance in July off a mark of 96. She got a revised mark of 101 after that run, but has since dropped back down to 99. From a good draw, Dance Night Andday can run a big race for Ross O’Sullivan.
15:20 Leopardstown – Hardy Warrior (Best Bet)
Benvenuto Cellini was 7½ lengths in front of Hardy Warrior at Killarney, who came home like an absolute train. Hardy Warrior went to Leopardstown with some dig in the ground and beat South Island in a canter in July and I really fancy him to get the job done.
15:50 Leopardstown – Convergent
Convergent was second in the German Derby and he’s interesting back at this level. That form looks strong, and this could be an English one-two with Al Aasy setting the standard.
16:25 Leopardstown – Cercene
Cercene didn’t look to stay the trip at Goodwood in the Nassau and coming back to a mile will suit her. January was behind her at Ascot and could be behind her again. At the prices, I prefer Cercene.
17:30 Leopardstown – White Birch
I’m taking on Delacroix and have ended up on the side of White Birch. He was unlucky to be behind the reopposing Anmaat at the Curragh on his last start when he didn’t get a clear run down the inside. I want to be against Delacroix, so White Birch is the selection.
Too Bossy For Us was a bit keen behind Lot of Joy at the Curragh on his penultimate start and was caught very wide last time at Galway. I’d put a line through that run and he’s in good form at home. Joey Sheridan rides and this drop in trip won’t inconvenience him. He certainly has a chance.
