Frankie was a guest on the September 2 episode of the Lightweights Podcast where he said he chose the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards over hosting SNL. According to Frankie, his celebrity crush Amanda Bynes was one of the co-hosts, so the choice was simple.
“I was like, ‘I’m gonna meet Amanda Bynes!’ Huge deal. So I’m so excited, like ‘this is my chance,’” Frankie said, revealing he had a “huge crush” on Amanda at the time.
Frankie said that after he turned down the SNL hosting gig, his mother received calls from producers over and over asking if he was serious about turning them down. He said he stood his ground, determined to meet Amanda.
The two of them went on to star in the 2002 movie Big Fat Liar. After turning down the chance to host SNL, Frankie wasn’t invited again.
