Gareth McElroy has been named on the Ireland Colleges and Universities international team for a game against the French Universities.

The game will take place on Wednesday, December 17, at Athlone Town Stadium.

The fixture follows on from the team’s first run-out under Head Coach Paul O’Reilly when they faced the Defence Forces.

McElroy, a student at ATU Sligo and a player with Sligo Rovers in the Premier Division of the League of Ireland, is among those included. 

The squad is made up of players attached to League of Ireland clubs.

A 21-year-old from Burnfoot, defender McElroy played 21 times this year for Sligo and scored two goals.

His Sligo Rovers team-mates Kyle Gabbidon, Kyle McDonagh, Conor Reynolds are also included in the panel.
