Christmas is here, and while sparkles, bows, and mulled wine certainly help us through the darkest, coldest season, this time of year is an odd mixture of joy and societal pressure. The limited sunlight doesn’t help, and copious amounts of mince pies, while delicious and worth it, may not aid in us feeling utterly fabulous – especially with Christmas parties aplenty.
But one trick that always works for me, when feeling a little self conscious, is giving myself a sun-kissed glow at home with fake tan. It delivers a ‘fresh off holiday’ look without the UV exposure, drained bank account (that’s down to the presents…) and long flights. The good news is my favourite brand of fake tan, Coco & Eve, is currently running a sale on its best selling products, and I’ve found one deal that sees shoppers bagging its famous Sunny Honey Bali Bronzing Foam (travel size) for £12 – £14 cheaper than its usual £26 full size price tag.

Described as an ‘anti-aging self tan’, the Sunny Honey Bali Bronzing Foam – which can be bought alone for £18.20 in the sale and is so popular one sells every 20 seconds – is loved for its streak-free application and fast drying formula. From experience, it develops a lovely, orange-free ‘super natural’ radiance, thanks to its green-grey base over the course of six hours (but for a deeper shade, leave it on longer – I do it overnight for optimum glow).

Its Cellushape formula includes Raw Virgin Coconut for hydration and Mango, Fig, and Cocoa for firming, making it ideal for making its user look positive snatched. A welcome departure from the typical stale biscuit smell fake tan users know all too well, this product features a pleasant, tropical mango and guava scent.
This is only rivalled by a few products, one being Bondi Sands’ Self Tanning Foam, now £11.65 at Superdrug. It features a coconut scent that is apparent, although I must admit there is still a slight cookie-undertone.
Alternatively, for those who’d rather a gradual build up of tan with a moisturising cream, I’ve used and loved the Golden Glow Gradual Tan from Gatineau, which is easy to apply with hands and is surprisingly streak free with this application. The only drawback is its expense – it costs £55.
Available in medium, dark and ultra dark, the Coco & Eve tan has a 4.8 star rating, with one user raving about the results: “Smells DIVINE! It looks super natural, the fade is not patchy, and the mitt makes it so easy to use! Best self tanner that I have ever tried!! I have very pale skin, covered with coloured tattoos, and this blends well and does not really dis-colour my tattos. The medium is not too dark, and I leave it on to develop overnight.”
