The Department of Social Protection has announced revised social welfare payment schedules for the festive period.
Benefit claimants should note that adjustments to the usual payment timetable are on the horizon.
With Christmas and New Year just a couple of weeks away, banks and post offices will shut their doors for several days throughout the holiday season.
Because of these closures during Christmas week, certain social welfare recipients will get payments that would normally arrive during that week paid out earlier than usual.

Typically, those on social welfare receive a double payment in the week leading up to Christmas to compensate for banks and post offices being shut the subsequent week, reports RSVP Live.
A further adjustment will take place before January 1, as financial institutions and post offices remain closed on New Year’s Day.
In a statement published on Gov.ie, the Department of Social Protection explained: “If you receive a weekly social welfare payment, you will get your payment as usual during the week commencing Monday 15 December, and an advanced payment for the following week.
“This applies to payments made at post offices, by cheque or directly into your financial institution account.”
If you’re receiving a casual or part-time jobseeker’s payment, it’s important to submit your dockets in advance as advised to ensure your payments continue over the Christmas period.
If you’re receiving income support from the Department of Social Protection, please inform us of any planned absences before you travel.
