Imagine a huge bakery powered by machines mixing dough in a massive vat before robots mould it into giant slabs and slide it effortlessly into an oven and then on to a truck for delivery.

That, on a vast scale, is what Kilsaran Precast’s 70,000 square foot new factory is like in Arthurstown, Co Kildare. The firm — an offshoot of the Kilsaran group — has invested an estimated €25m in a plant that can produce enough concrete walls to build 4,000 apartments a year.
